These terms apply when you use this site or ask FIU Preceptor to help with a clinical placement. By using the site or our service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside your FIU program's own requirements.

The service
FIU Preceptor is an independent placement service for Florida International University nursing students. We search for preceptors and clinical sites that fit a student's FIU course, prepare the preceptor and site details the student submits to FIU (including what the Preceptor Request Form and a new site contract need), and help find a replacement if a preceptor steps away.
Florida International University does not run this service, and the information on this site is not an official FIU statement. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean FIU Preceptor, and "you" means the person using the site or the service.
FIU's role and final approval
FIU's Office of Clinical Education and faculty approve every clinical site and preceptor, hold the contracts with sites, and decide when a rotation may start. FIU's graduate and undergraduate handbooks, plans of study, syllabi and faculty set the rules for your program.
Where anything on this site or in our communications differs from FIU's current requirements, FIU's requirements apply.
No promise of placement, approval or dates
We work hard to find a suitable preceptor and site for you. We do not promise that one will be found, that one will be found by a particular date, that FIU will approve a site or preceptor we identify, that a site contract will be signed by a particular date, or that you will start or finish any course or program on a particular timetable.
Preceptors and sites make their own decisions and may change or withdraw their availability at any time, including after FIU's approval.
Your responsibilities
You remain responsible for meeting FIU's requirements and deadlines, whether or not we are helping you. In particular, you are responsible for:
- completing FIU's clinical clearance in Complio or FIU Express and keeping every item current;
- holding the Florida RN license FIU requires, and any license a clinical site's state requires;
- completing background checks, fingerprinting, drug screens, immunizations and any site requirements before patient contact;
- starting clinical hours only after FIU approves the site and preceptor and the contract is in place, and logging hours in Typhon on time;
- staying in contact with your course faculty, your clinical faculty and FIU's Office of Clinical Education;
- giving us accurate information and telling us promptly about any change.
Fees
Our fees are quoted individually, based on your program, course, location and timing, and your quote sets out what it covers. Charges made by a clinical site or other third party, and FIU's own tuition and fees, are separate from our fee. FIU places the cost of background checks, drug testing, insurance, travel and any extra site screening on the student.

They are general information, not academic, legal or professional advice, and FIU's rules can change. Check your plan of study, your faculty and FIU's Office of Clinical Education before relying on any detail.

Sending us your details means you consent to our contacting you about your inquiry and placement by email, phone call or text message, as our privacy policy describes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of text messages.
Acceptable use
Please use this site for its intended purpose. Do not submit false information, misuse the forms or chat, or copy the site's content for commercial use without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, FIU Preceptor is not liable for losses that arise from the decisions of FIU, a preceptor or a clinical site, from delays in approval or course progression, or from reliance on the general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time. Each revision carries a new date at the top of the page. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page or the chat.

FIU asks you to identify your clinical site. We make that the easy part.
Tell us your FIU track, where you live and which semester your next practicum starts. We find preceptors whose patients fit the course, check early whether the site already holds an FIU contract, and prepare everything the Preceptor Request Form asks for.
