FIU nursing programs and the clinicals each one needs
Each Florida International University program handles clinical placement differently. On the predominantly online Adult-Gerontology and Pediatric Primary Care tracks you identify the site; on the hybrid tracks FIU's clinical department assists; in Nurse Anesthesia and the BSN, FIU assigns. The table sets out the hours and who finds the site, and the program guides below cover the courses and preceptors behind each one.

Which FIU nursing programs ask me to find my own clinical site?
The predominantly online MSN Adult-Gerontology and Pediatric Primary Care tracks, the matching online certificates and post-BSN DNP specialties, the post-MSN DNP (your organizational mentor) and the RN to BSN. FIU's clinical department assists the hybrid tracks, and FIU assigns Nurse Anesthesia and BSN clinicals.
Is FIU's NP program fully online?
The Adult-Gerontology and Pediatric Primary Care tracks are predominantly online, and FIU says 1-3 campus visits may be required each semester. FNP and PMHNP are hybrid. Clinical hours are always in person at an approved site.
When does the first FIU practicum start?
In semester 4 of the MSN plan, the second Fall, after the clinical education seminar in semester 3. MSN NP tracks start in the Fall only.
