Where FIU's official detail lives

FIU publishes its clinical rules in four places. The Clinical Education pages for the MSN and DNP state who identifies the site and how many hours each track needs. The 2025-2026 Graduate Nursing Student Handbook covers clearance, preceptor rules, Typhon and progression. The Advanced Practice Nursing Programs Clinical Preceptor Manual (2022) holds the Preceptor Request Form and the time-sheet log. The plans of study set the NGR course order.

Where are FIU's clinical rules written down?

In the MSN and DNP Clinical Education pages (who identifies the site, total hours), the 2025-2026 Graduate Nursing Student Handbook (clearance, preceptor rules, Typhon, progression), the 2022 Clinical Preceptor Manual (the Preceptor Request Form and time-sheet log) and the plans of study (course order).

Which system does FIU use for clinical logs?

Typhon NPST, the Nurse Practitioner Student Tracking system. Every encounter is logged within 7 days, the preceptor approves at the site and faculty approve the entries.

Who approves my FIU clinical site?

Your faculty sign the Preceptor Request Form, and FIU's Office of Clinical Education decides which sites and preceptors have every required contract and document. No rotation starts before the contract is in place.
